The Kaleidoscope Theatre volunteers are the ones that make it all happen! We are very proud to be an all volunteer, community theatre and everything we do depends on volunteers with different talents, interests, skills, passions, personalities, and backgrounds. Everyone is a volunteer, from the Board of Directors to the part-time ushers. Volunteer coordinators seek out, recruit and train new people, and our quest for more community involvement never ceases. Whatever your intended participation level is, we will teach you what you need to know to meet the production’s needs. While appearing on our stage may not be for everyone, there IS a place for everyone at our theatre.
All volunteers are thanked with two complimentary tickets to the production they are assisting with. What a great way to enjoy our shows at no cost!

If you enjoy meeting and greeting people, the front of the house is a great place to be! Volunteers who sell our tickets in the box office are trained on our ticketing software. Working the entrance door on performance nights, disbursing tickets and processing credit cards is another option. Ushers are needed to assist the patrons into the auditorium. The concession stand is staffed with volunteers who sell coffee, soda & snacks prior to each show and during intermissions.

Working as a backstage crew member is a wonderful way to get a feel for the other requirements necessary for a successful show. Crew members, under the direction of the Stage Manager, are responsible for set changes, assisting actors with costume changes, organizing props, facilitating special effects, and more. Considered part of the backstage crew, the technical volunteers consist of lighting and sound designers, grid (walkway above the stage) climbers and tech board operators. Our tech booth is the perfect place for anyone that loves technical equipment and computers.

We are fortunate to have a 35' X 24' stage to transform six different times into a totally new setting. Set design takes place in the early planning stages of the production. Work on the different sets takes place on weekend afternoons in the theatre’s workroom and on our stage. Stop by and you will find people sawing 2 x 4's, painting, cutting foam into shapes, recovering furniture pieces, installing hardware on doors, constructing small props, hanging curtains, drawing a backdrop and more. Power tools are provided, or you can bring your own!

Costume design and construction can be either very simple or very elaborate depending on the play and the era of the play. Seamstresses are welcome to sew in our sewing room with other volunteers, or take pieces home to complete. Some costumes start from patterns while others are modified from existing costumes at the theatre. Costuming is a very important piece of our productions and we welcome people to help create them. The lost art of sewing is still alive at our theatre!

You can become a voice for Kaleidoscope Theatre by helping us get the word out to others. Volunteers serve on our marketing and publicity committees and work on increasing the public's awareness of who we are and what we offer to residents in the area. Recruit new community business partners, new advertisers and new audience members with us.

Maintenaning our two buildings, as well as the courtyard and parking lot is ongoing. We have volunteers who grade the parking lot, beautify the flower beds seasonally, change air conditioning filters, organize the prop room, and provide other needed services to the buildings' interiors and exteriors.

Kaleidoscope Theatre’s Summer Camp takes center stage in June and adults are greatly outnumbered! Over 40 kids participate each year and hardworking volunteers are needed to be group leaders, help with lunch & snack preparation, teach a class, direct a short production or work backstage for one, teach a musical/dance segment, make crafts and props, & more.
