Set in the drawing room of Checkmate Manor, the play involves a family gathering for the reading of Sir Reginald Bishop's will. However, someone else has designs on the Checkmate millions, and will stop at nothing to get them. A string of grisly murders follows. Everyone has a motive and is a suspect in a classic whodunit farce. This is the play the Farndale women's club is attempting to produce, oglivious to their own dramatic inadequacies.
