It's 1922, and the cast of Sherlock Holmes arrives at actor William Gillette's magnificent castle in Connecticut for a relaxing weekend. But Gillette, best known for his portrayals of the famous sleuth, has different plans. In an effort to trap into confession the killer of his fiancee some time earlier, he arranges a seance. Soon the intrepid, eccentric and wildly romantic Gillette becomes a target himself and he must summon all the detecting skills he has learned as Sherlock Holmes to solve the mystery.
