This critically acclaimed play is an exploration of grief and coping as David celebrates the birthday of his wife, Gillian, who was killed in a boating accident two years earlier on her 35th birthday. The playwright examines the responsibilities of parents to children and the compromises of marriage, the futility of self-pity and guilt; and focuses on the efforts of a loving family and friends to help David move beyond the excruciating pain of losing a loved one. This play is frank, touching, wise and generously sprinkled with humor.
